Outreach Officer, CAAP

Job Title:        Outreach Officer, Center for Arab American Philanthropy

Employment Type:        Regular Full-Time

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to support the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) in executing its comprehensive outreach strategy, including marketing and communications, planning special events, and supporting donor development.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Planning, development, and coordination of communications strategy that aligns with CAAP’s marketing priorities, donor development and evaluation tactics
  • Participating as a thought partner with program and other staff to help develop, support, and promote CAAP’s goals through creative communications, including message development, storytelling, blogging, social media, and media outreach.
  • Develop and promote communications and marketing materials for CAAP’s impact area funds and board-directed funds. May include creation of message development, pamphlets, digital and print materials.
  • Developing and disseminating creative materials that increase CAAP’s visibility among stakeholders and elevates CAAP’s brand to internal and external audiences
  • Ensuring digital marketing content aligns with CAAP’s brand identity and message
  • Working collaboratively with staff to identify consistent communications opportunities for data dissemination, press releases, and storytelling, and providing strategic communications counsel and support
  • Planning content and writing copy for publications such as brochures, leaflets, annual reports, newsletters, and blogs
  • Working closely with staff and external vendors to develop innovative, high-quality video presentations and other interactive media
  • Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, responding to media requests and coordinating media interviews
  • Effectively tailoring organizational and leadership voice to target audiences
  • Managing CAAP website and related digital properties
  • Staying abreast of current communications and marketing trends and insights
  • Managing planning, implementation, and production of all events within timelines including vendor relationships, budgets, event logistics, and volunteer management
  • Adhering to CAAP’s core values
  • Operating standard office equipment and uses required software applications
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Passion for CAAP’s mission is essential and knowledge of current issues facing the Arab American community is preferred.
  • Effective marketing techniques utilizing various social media venues.
  • Communication and marketing best practices in community foundations and non-profit organizations.
  • Basic grant writing techniques.

 

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Blackbaud CRM software.
  • Basic web and graphic design.

 

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
  • Gather information, identify linkages and trends and apply findings to assignments.
  • Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills and demonstrated ability to translate technical information and complex concepts and statistics into accessible, audience-specific materials.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

 

 

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    • Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Non-profit Management, Social Science or a related field. 

~and~

  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in communications, marketing or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • 3 years of experience with digital marketing, including website, email and social media platforms.
  • At least 3 years of experience and comfort working with customer relations management tools.

Working Conditions:

 

Hours:   Normal business hours. Some additional hours may be required.

 

Travel required: Some local and national travel is required.

 

Working Environment:    Climate controlled office environment during normal business hours.
