Supervisor, Workforce Development

Job Title: Supervisor, Workforce Development

Job Status: Full-time

Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Workforce Development Supervisor uses specialized knowledge of workforce development, along with skills obtained through experience and/or formal training to oversee programs to increase employability of clients ages sixteen and older.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the program and ensure all requirements are met
  • Review files and documents of all services provided in compliance with the agencies and funding source quality assurance plan and report on program progress at required intervals per department and funding guidelines
  • Ensure that information is collected for accurate and timely reporting as required by funding sources
  • Meet all reporting requirements for all funding sources
  • Monitor performance and create a corrective action plan if program performance falls below participation and employment measures
  • Review assessment materials and ensure training content is developed to meet client needs
  • Address program participant or staff concerns and complaints
  • Work with auditors on accreditation and compliance related audits
  • Represent ACCESS and clients at various meetings with Administrator and Community partners and function as mediator as needed
  • Create internal processes, forms, documents and curriculum, as needed
  • Participate in the research and writing of grant proposals, as directed
  • Create, manage and operate within a specified budget in conjunction with the Fiscal Department
  • Plan, assign, monitor and manage the work of others
  • Review performance and evaluate results achieved by subordinates
  • Coach and mentor subordinates
  • Interpret, apply and recommend changes to organizational policies and procedures
  • Review progress of assignments with senior management
  • Balance conflicting resource and priority demands
  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Advanced concepts, principles and practices of effective employment and training techniques
  • Grant and other funding sources related to the assigned functional area

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives
  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed
  • Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes
  • Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate
  • Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    • Education, Training and Development or related field

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Education or Training and Development working with adult learners, with at least 2 years in a lead capacity, preferable in a non-profit setting
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Working Conditions:

Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required

Travel Required: Local travel, up to 10%

Working Environment: Climate controlled office
