Job Title: Manager, Crisis Stabilization Unit

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the Crisis Stabilization Unit Manager is responsible for managing and leading the Crisis Stabilization Unit, which provides immediate assistance and intervention to individuals experiencing various crises, including mental health emergencies, emotional distress, and other critical situations. The Crisis Stabilization Unit Manager will lead with passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others and reach a psychological state of peace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of crisis intervention specialist and support staff
  • Develop a positive and cohesive team culture that promotes collaboration and professional growth
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations to ensure team members are well-equipped to handle crisis situations effectively
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Crisis Services Unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality crisis intervention and mental health support
  • Develop and implement protocols and best practices for crisis response to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
  • Monitor call volume and service metrics to identify trends and make data-driven improvements to the crisis response process
  • Collaborate with external agencies, emergency services, and mental health providers to create a comprehensive crisis response network
  • Maintain effective communication channels to facilitate seamless coordination during emergencies
  • Participate in local and regional emergency response planning meetings and initiatives
  • Evaluate existing crisis intervention programs and identify areas for improvement and expansion
  • Propose and implement new crisis service initiatives to address emerging needs in the community
  • Monitor program outcomes, collect feedback, and utilize data to enhance the effectiveness of crisis services
  • Ensure that unit milestones/goals are met
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing crisis intervention and mental health services
  • Prepare regular reports on the Crisis Services Unit’s performance, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, risk assessment, and de-escalation strategies
  • Experience with developing new programs and services preferred
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and experience in team management and staff development
  • Community resources and services available to support individuals in crisis
  • Familiarity with relevant local and federal regulations and guidelines related to crisis services and mental health
  • Business impact analysis; response and contingency planning, training and coordination

Skill in:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic about helping people in need
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Ensure safety and provide support
  • The basic principles of crisis intervention, (1) to intervene immediately after the event and stabilize the member; (2) to facilitate understanding of what has happened; (3) to focus on problem solving within the realm of what is possible; and (4) to encourage self-reliance to restore
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
    • Master’s degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    • Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in crisis intervention and mental health services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licenses/Certifications Required at Date of Hire:
    • Active Michigan Licensure as a clinician (LPC, LMSW, LMHC, etc.)
    • (CADC) Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselling preferred
    • Certification in crisis intervention or related fields is preferred

Working Conditions:

Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required

Travel Required: None generally required; Some local travel may be required.

Working Environment: Climate controlled office
